Lifelong Fidelity and Devotion? Swan?

Posted by Eric Tan on Apr 20, 2007 in Browsing Web, looking at the world

Saw an interesting news report on Channel U/8 (either one of them). Finally have sometime (after a “big” morning) to do a quick search on the net, and found the relevant reports.

“Swans have long been renowned as symbols of lifelong fidelity and devotion, but our recent work has shown that infidelity is rife among black swans, says Dr Raoul Mulder from the University of Melbourne’s Department of Zoology.

According to the report, 1 out of 6 baby swan are found “illegitimate” by DNA paternity analysis. (meaning they are ç§?生å? or their mother æ?žå¤–é?‡ la.)

If my memory didn’t fail me, the news report also said that female black swans normally sneak out between 11pm and 3am.

Interesting. Is that why they are BLACK swan? Just like Black sheep?

Alright. Just for your info. But for me, I’ll make sure I won’t buy any swan related decorations for Harry & Lap Wai, YiQi & James nor George & Sabrina. :D

Connecting N80 to Vista via Bluetooth (it’s painful)

Posted by Eric Tan on Apr 6, 2007 in Browsing Web, echoes in a bowl

Bought a laptop with Vista recently, and I had yet another painful experience using Microsoft product… (Rudy and Choon Keat, you mac users must be laughing by now.)

MY N80 FAILED TO CONNECT TO MY VAIO VIA BLUETOOTH!!!

I spent days and nights browsing the web, thinking why NOKIA has yet to release a Vista compatible PC suite. I realised I was wrong to blame Nokia on this when I read this:

The Microsoft Bluetooth stack has been stripped of all profiles except OBEX file transfers and Mouse and Keyboard HID profiles. No stereo audio, no hands-free, no pda syncing, nothing. Why? No idea, there is no official word on the issue…

Anyway, not complaining here. Just to share what I’ve experienced and let my pals out there who have, or going to have, this problem, a solution that works for me.

Thanks, Dev-Toast. Thanks cubespeed for pointing me there too.
